Diego e Il circolo degli scrittori assassini

“La verità è la cosa meno importante e che la gente vive più felice quando nemmeno la sospetta.”
Questa è tra le ultime frasi di chiusura di questo romanzo poliziesco atipico, in quanto non ci sono investigatori, ma solo una serie di testimonianze, fatte dai sospettati del delitto, tutti celati da pseudonimi letterari. Ne Il Circolo degli Scrittori Assassini il racconto viene miscelato con storie di altri romanzi o film che i quattro presunti autori del delitto – con abilità discorsiva – ci trasmettono. Ognuno di questi rilascia la propria verità, discordante da quella degli altri. La verità non si distingue dalla menzogna. La ricerca della realtà dei fatti è esclusiva del lettore, che diventa investigatore. In questo articolato e inusuale romanzo, Diego Trelles Paz coinvolge fino in fondo il suo pubblico, facendogli avere un ruolo attivo nella storia.

:: Benvenuto su Nuok! Ci racconti in brevissimo di te? Diego Trelles Paz (Lima, 1977)

:: Che cosa vuol dire New York per uno scrittore? Che cosa ha in più rispetto a tutte le altre città del mondo? New York has always been the unlimited an endless city of the United States for me. I was born and raised in Lima, a very big, complex and crowded city too. I am not really a country person. I don’t like the suburbs either: that space between similar houses in empty neighborhoods is horrific for me. I am not one of those writers who need to isolate in a little prairie to produce. After writing, I need the beautiful noise of the nighthawks and the wanderers. That kind of stuff feeds my writing and gives me ideas that I will normally use later. I used to live in Austin, Texas. 8 years. Nice place: a lot of live music and healthy people and hippies. They have this slogan over there: “Keep Austin Weird.” When I came to New York for the first time I thought: it just flows natural here. They won’t ever need a slogan to keep their weirdness. It will never go away.

:: Quanta America c’è nei tuoi scritti e nel tuo modo di vivere la narrazione? United States is present in my work, yes, but mostly through his cinema. In that sense I like Godard’s approach to this country: he was in love with westerns and gangster movies and Hitchcock—like all the French filmmakers from the Nouvelle Vague. In my pieces there is always someone remembering with admiration scenes from Scorsese’s or Tarantino’s or PT Anderson’s films. Goodfellas is always an inspiration. Peckinpah’s The Wild Bunch too.

:: Hai scrittori di riferimento americani? There are a lot but I will mention only three: William Faulkner, Sherwood Anderson and Cormac McCarthy.

:: Il tuo posto segreto nella Grande Mela? Sunny’s Bar in Red Hook. It’s in a secluded part of Brooklyn and is a very laid-back, no-frills kind of place.
