Today in Barcelona: Katarina Dragutinovic’ Roccella

Katarina Dragutinovic’ Roccella is married with an Italian guy and has 3 kids.

She works at the Faculty for graphic design (FILUM) in Kragujevac as the teaching assistent for the figure drawing.
Being “crafty”and creative is something that consorted Katarina since the early childhood. She was raised in an artistic family: her father is a painter, her mom a ceramic-pottery artist, her sister  a set and production designer. Growing in such an environment rich with artistic events and creating daily definitely determinate my life and creations.
Katarina divided her creations into two lovely collections: Flowers ‘n’ Butterflies and Iwannabe and if you wanna follow her adventures and tours around Europe, you definitely should check her super fun blog.

::Why and when did you started I wanna be? I opened IwannaBe shop on etsy in 2008, a few months after opening my first etsy shop: flowersnbutterflies. I’m trying to express myself through many forms of art: collages, drawings, illustrations, calligraphy, graphic design, graphic prints, photography, sewing….. and  have always being inspired with many different fields of art, having the desire to try myself in different mediums, working with different materials. After discovering plexiglass and some possibilities to design and create in that material,  I decided to open IwannaBe shop, dedicated mainly to plexi cuts.

:: Where do you get your inspiration from? I find inspiration everywhere: in different forms and materials, but also in plants, travels, books, illustrations, exhibitions, fabrics, design blogs, catalogues, photographs, vintage patterns, buttons and laces.

:: Who is your ideal buyer? Anyone who will be happy with the designs I offer and I am always pleased to receive good comments and feedback.

:: What is your favorite place in Barcelona? Guell Park for sure, I am such a huge fan of Gaudi’s work.

:: What is Barcelona to young creative people living in Spain? As only a visitor, I can only say that it really offers great museums, places to visit and stay, immense field of inspiration everywhere.

:: If you think about Barcelona, what’s the first thing that pops into your head? All of Gaudi’s masterpieces… Sagrada Familia, Guell Park, Casa Battlo…

:: Barcelona’s not to be missed shops are…? Shops inside Miro’ and Picasso Museums, Spanish village shops, Duduá , L’appartement, Camper, Zara.

:: If I say Italy, you say…? Other home…
