LANNON – Today in London: Esen Burrows
Esen Burrows is a crafter and a mom of a lovely and bubbly little girl.
Esen was born and raised in London (with the Stones as family friends, imagine that), but lived in Turkey for 6 years and recently made the big move back to South Africa where her husband is originally from.
She loves animals, the outdoors and has a strong addiction to chocolate. She also loves crafting, and fibers and fabrics, a love that she has conveyed into a line of amazing hand made creations: Mystic Fibers (and if you like her patterns, check her Mia Mia shop too!).
:: Why and when did you started MysticFibers? As a family we are very creative, my father is a builder/architect/designer my mother is a fantastic artist, who knits and sews. So…I guess some skill had to rub off onto me. I have always had a ‘thing’ for jewelry and have over the years tried and tested making jewelry with loads of different materials. Mysticfibers as a company name was born in 2009 but our jewelry making goes way back before then.

:: Where do you get your inspiration from? My inspiration comes from everywhere! whether it be new colour combinations for woolen bangles or new patterns and designs for my beadwork I always have my eyes peeled. Natures colours inspires me the most and I love playing with unlikely combo’s.

:: Who is your ideal buyer? I’d say my buyers range in all kinds of people in all ages from all over the world so its difficult for me to pinpoint a specific kind of buyer, its a great surprise for me when a purchase is made from my store as I love seeing what part of the world my work is about to travel to.

:: What is your favorite place in London? Without a doubt Camden Town!!! Such a fun and colourful place and its a great place to pick up some unique items and try new foods. Camden always puts a big smile on my face.

:: What is London to people living in the UK? Its been a while since I lived in London but I would say London is viewed as the mother city, a place one can never get bored of.
:: Do you have any shopping tips to share with our readers? What are London’s best shops? London’s best shops in my opinion are found tucked away in the back streets of Camden Town and Covent Garden.
:: Speaking of brit vintage bands: are you a Beatles or Rolling Stones fan? I am a little biased, my dad did a lot of work for one of the band members of the Rolling Stones so they are family friends of ours. So I gotta say the Rolling Stones though I do love the music of the Beatles.

:: If I say Italy, you say…? PASTA!!!!! yum!!!
